Sayuri Iki ( () () さゆり Iki Sayuri?) is the wife of Takamasa Iki and the mother of Masaomi Iki and Hiyori Iki.

Appearance[]

Sayuri is a middle-aged woman with shoulder-length brown hair that has bangs swept to the right side and light brown eyes.

Personality[]

Sayuri is portrayed to be quite old fashioned. In addition to being being melodramatic in personality, she holds all the traditional aspirations for her children, such as wanting Hiyori Iki to find a good husband and have a family of her own. It is largely hinted that she would not approve of Hiyori's interest in wrestling, viewing it as "barbaric" and not acceptable for a young lady.[citation needed]

Background[]

The Iki family possesses the Sixth Sense - the ability to sense and/or see denizens from the Far Shore. According to her mother, Sayuri herself is not able to see them but she can feel their presence - she senses Yato's presence[1] and later speaks to Hiyori Iki in her spirit form.[2]

Trivia[]

  • The name Sayuri is written in hiragana (さゆり), which has no special meaning. However, when written in kanji (小百合), it could possibly mean "small" (小, sa) and "lily" (百合, yuri).[3]
  • Sayuri's surname Iki means "I, one" (壱, i) and "branch off, fork in road, scene, arena, theater" (岐, ki).
