The Sound of Thread Snapping ( (いと) () れる (おと) Ito no Kireru Oto?) is the 30th chapter of the ノラガミ Noragami manga series written by Adachitoka. It was released on May 2, 2013.

Short Summary[]

Yato resolves to help Ebisu find the Word of Yomi. On the surface, Hiyori and friends enjoy a group date at Capyper Land. Additionally, Heaven's investigation of Ebisu results in confirmation that he is the Crafter.

Extended Summary[]

Yato is shocked that Ebisu is the person who caught his blade. The Stray then clarifies that Father's request is to find and save the Crafter, much to Yato's confusion. Ebisu asks if Yato’s shinki is Yukine, then introduces his own, Kunimi, Tatsumi, and Utami. Kunimi recognizes Hiro as Tsutsumi, a shinki who Ebisu named five generations ago, to Yato’s displeasure. Ebisu asks why Yato mistook him for his father, but he stubbornly refuses to tell. This makes Ebisu more curious, though there's no time to pry, so he attempts to schedule an appointment with Yato at a particular restaurant he wanted to try. Yato gets frustrated and explains that he came to rescue him, but Ebisu says he will not leave Yomi since he is not a perfect Crafter yet. Yato wonders how far his father’s influence goes, since keeping strays and using ayakashi are taboo– and it was first Kugaha, now Ebisu.

Yato asks why Ebisu wants to be a Crafter. Ebisu replies that he thought it could be interesting, and he had fallen in love with the idea of naming an ayakashi as if it were a shinki. He wanted to gain power. He had plenty of time to experiment with it; at the start, it was difficult, as getting it wrong would mean he would be stung. He realized he would require greater power to handle ayakashi, since on his own he could barely employ a few, which defeats his purpose. Hearing this, Yato wonders if Ebisu is in league with his father, as well as how much more information the Stray knows about this. As Ebisu turns to leave, Yato asserts that he will go with him, and asks what Ebisu needs to do before they can return to the realm of the living. Ebisu then says he came here to retrieve the Word of Yomi. Although Yato seems displeased, he silently resolves to get this over with so he can return home to Yukine, Hiyori, and the others.

At Bishamon's estate in Takama-ga-hara, Kazuma sneaks up and tries to use Bakufu on Yukine, who is busy studying, but Yukine successfully blocks with a borderline before he is frozen. They consume the refreshments Kazuma brought him and discuss the current Divine Council, which has been drawn out for so long that the attendants were all sent home. He also tells Yukine that Yato was not present, to which Yukine calmly replies that he disappears like this frequently. Kazuma notes how Yukine is maturing, holding back from becoming reacting emotionally or rashly, so as not to affect his master’s health. They decide to continue practicing Bakufu, starting with catching Kuraha.

Meanwhile, Hiyori, Yama, and Ami introduce themselves to their dates at Capyper Land, Hiyori still suffering from the reputation that Yato had built for her.[1] Yama spots some Hyakki Yakou merch, which she and Abe quickly bond over, and Ami explains to Seki what’s going on. Fujisaki apologizes to Hiyori for making her waste her day off. She says not to worry and he admits he only came along for her, so they should have fun. The group goes on multiple rides together. Eventually, Fujisaki explains to Hiyori that he ran away to live with his dad in the city when his sister moved back home with her three daughters. Hiyori says she has a brother, but he's still single. Fujisaki asks if he’s like her as the ‘stormy schoolgirl’, which she insists was not her again. Fujisaki and Hiyori get a photo together with a Capyper, since it’s Fujisaki's first visit. She begins to say she wants a picture with other people too, but trails off when she realizes she doesn't know who. Hiyori buys three Capyper key chains, saying that "they" would fight over it if she only got them one to share. Fujisaki asks if she's buying an extra two for her family, and she replies that she isn't, but trails off again even though she intends to explain more. Thinking about it more, she realizes that she already bought souvenirs for her family, and begins to feel that something is deeply wrong, like she's forgetting something very important.

Elsewhere, Okuninushi asks how long the Seven Gods of Fortune will be kept locked up, to which Ōshi, the Heavenly Guard Triumvir, says they will wait here until they finish searching Ebisu’s estate. They may leave if they wish, but by doing so, it would leave Heaven to assume that all Seven Gods of Fortune are conspiring with Ebisu. This angers Okuninushi, and Bishamon tries to reassure him and keep him calm. They're interrupted when a man arrives with a report on the search: a large number of masks were found at Ebisu’s estate, and it appears that he has been keeping a fair number of puppets. The majority of his shinki were found to be strays, but Ebisu and his guide Iwami were missing from the premises. A lookout order is issued for them. Okuninushi demands to know what will be done with Ebisu, but instead of replying, Ōshi silently entraps all of the Seven Gods of Fortune using a borderline.

During the Elekiter Parade at Capyper Land, Hiyori wonders why her chest hurts, why there's someone she wanted to take a picture with and buy a gift for. She questions whether this person existed at all, but feels that she wanted to be with this person longer. Suddenly, Fujisaki takes Hiyori's hand and kisses her.
